School Games Awards 2019/20

Image
We were really pleased to receive not only one but TWO School Games awards last year for our participation in school sport.  One was received  due to our participation in many School Games Events. These included; hockey, athletics, football, netball, cross country and new age kurling. In total we attended 12 fixtures or events between September and February but disappointingly missed out on several more due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We also received a Virtual award for promoting the School Games and Physical activity throughout the lock down. This was done through our PE and Class blogs and by running Keep Fit sessions with our Key Worker Groups. A big thanks must go to our SGO Lisa who continues to put in huge amount of effort with the School Games and our local community.

Football and Netball Fixtures

Football - Bengeworth 1 - Swan Lane 2 Netball - Bengeworth 2 Swan Lane 3 Reports from Cygnet News.... Football/Netball Triumph Recently in a Netball match, we were against Bengeworth’s year 5 Netball team. Adele scored a total of 2 of the 3 goals we scored. In the last 4 seconds of the match, Martha scored a goal winning us the match. Bengeworth scored 2 goals making the score 2-2 to them this was before Martha scored then we won with 3- 2 to us. The coach for this fabulous team was Mrs. Smith but due to her breaking her arm Mrs. Dyers and Mrs. Sanders took them to the match. Football was just as good as the netball match, but instead of the score being 3-2 it was 2-1. Swan lane football team scorers were Cohen and William. Cohen scored first after the other team scored then William scored in the last five minutes. The coach of this fabulous team is Mr. Thompson. William quoted ‘no disrespect to the other team however we won the league’. Well done on winning the league. By Robin
